How I Operate

I can conduct a free inspection and safety check on any bike within Edinburgh. These can either be brought to my workshop in the Craiglockhart area, or I can travel to a convenient location* and can be arranged for a time that best suits you. At this time, I will make a list of any issues with the bicycle along with any other modifications you require, pricing parts and labour. You can then choose if you want all, some or none of the work completed. If the jobs are small, I can then normally carry them out on the spot. More time-consuming jobs will require that the bike be left with me for an agreed upon day. I aim to see to every bike within 2 days of initial contact and have any repairs carried out within a week. 

Services I Offer

I offer a tailored service for each bike I work on so that everything that needs fixed gets sorted quickly and there are no excess costs. I do not hold* stock of parts and so only seek out and recommend parts specifically for your needs. Whether that be cost effective to get you back on the road, a performance upgrade for that little bit extra or a ‘like for like’ replacement to get your bike back to factory spec.

Bike Repairs and Services:

I can carry out all common major and minor bike repairs. No job is to big or small. Form puncture repair to hydraulic brake bleed and full services. Looking for a specialized job not on my price list? There is a good chance I can sort, just get in touch.

Upgrades and Complete Overhauls:

Want to get a bit more out of your bike but not sure where your money would be best spent? Talk to me about what type of riding you enjoy and we can install some choice upgrades within your budget to improve your comfort/performance/commute/speed. I can also perform and advise on frame swaps and modernising retro bicycle with new parts.

New Bike Builds:

Recently bought a Bike online and not confident enough to put it together? Or just want your work checked over for piece of mind? New bikes shouldn’t be something to worry about but sometimes ‘factory fitted’ and ‘safe/ready to ride’ are not the same thing. Most parts on a new bike are securely fitted but items like the brakes and gears often are not adjusted to safe standards. For this reason, I offer free safety checks and cheap bike builds so that my clients can be sure their bike is in a good condition wherever they bought it from.

Starting Out

In the past I have worked in several bike shops including voluntary educational work teaching people how to fix their own bikes. At the start of the covid-19 epidemic I was looking for a way to spend my time and help the community. Many of my friends still working in the bike industry told me they were incredibly busy with a lot of people turning to cycling for fitness and leisure. Wait times at independent bike shops were around two weeks and larger chains were longer. Because of this I decided to start by repairing family, friends and neighbours’ bikes. I had a way to spend my time and they got their bicycle problems seen to quicker and cheaper than surrounding bike shops could manage. This then expanded to friend of friend and I have now repaired, serviced or checked over 200 bikes independently.
